For organizations seeking to leverage the UML® Profile for DoDAF and MODAF (UPDM) Framework using the Enterprise Architect modeling tool Learn best practices in modeling with the UPDM Framework using this comprehensive, repository-based, tool that supports a variety of standard modeling notations such as UML®, OMG SysML™ and ArchiMate®! A solid understanding of the UPDM (or DoDAF) concepts and viewpoints is highly recommended! |
This course focuses on the practical aspects of modeling with the UPDM Framework specified by the Object Management Group (OMG®) using the MDG Technology for UPDM provided by Sparx Systems. Depending on the type of license purchased from Sparx Systems UPDM may or may not be included in your installation.Specifically the training illustrates how the different UPDM (and DoDAF) viewpoints and views can be modeled using the profile's metamodel as implemented in Enterprise Architect. It also suggests alternative modeling notations for some of these views.
The course is not intended to be a comprehensive UPDM training class, nor should it be considered a prepartion for DoDAF certification! Project managers, business subject-matter-experts, analysts, architects, designers and all other personnel who are intended to populate the framework with any of the artifacts required to produce its different views. |

The key value of this course lies in its best practice recommendations for how to most efficiently:
a) build the core artifacts specified by UPDM;
b) create or generate the required views;
c) leverage the capabilities of the tool.
Its goal is to gain you the confidence needed to actively use the framework! The Cephas Viewpoint-to-Viewpoint Transformation Service enables you to automatically generate, via transformation rules, target viewpoints (diagrams) from source viewpoints (diagrams)!
